Presented by Dr. Norine Wark and Dr. Susan Bainbridge (Canada), this webinar introduced The Encyclopedia of Female Pioneers of Online Learning, a project that documents and restores the visibility of the women whose work shaped open, distance and online education. The session was organised by the Flexible Learning Association of New Zealand (FLANZ) together with the Open and Distance Learning Association of Australia (ODLAA), and was held on International Women's Day, 8 March 2023.
The topic is at the centre of intWOJDE's mission. Dr. Bainbridge is also a contributing author to this journal: “Mitigating the Matilda Effect on Beatriz Fainholc: Triple E Model Framework” (Coco & Bainbridge), published in Vol. 13, Issue 2, October 2024.
intWOJDE was also presented during the session: Ufuk Tanyeri, Executive Editor, joined the panel on behalf of the editorial team — Prof. Dr. Emine Demiray, Editor, was unable to attend — and introduced the journal’s aims, scope and double-blind, open-access publishing model. Following the presentation, Dr. Bainbridge invited the audience to read and to submit to the journal.
