Support intWOJDE
Free for authors, free for readers, since 2012. Help us give every article a permanent DOI.
intWOJDE has published 214 open-access articles since 2012 without ever charging an author a submission fee, a processing fee, or a publication fee — and without ever charging a reader. It is run by a small volunteer editorial team and funded from the owner’s own resources.
What we are raising support for
One thing the journal cannot yet provide is a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) for its articles. A DOI is the permanent address of a scholarly work: it survives site moves, it is what citation managers and reference lists point to, and it is what makes an article reliably findable and countable. Registering DOIs requires membership of Crossref, which carries an annual fee plus a small charge per registered article.
Indexing services increasingly treat DOIs as a practical prerequisite. For a journal of our size this is the single largest barrier between our archive and the readers looking for it.
What support would be used for, in order: Crossref membership → DOI registration for the current volume → retrospective DOI registration for the 2012–2025 archive → hosting and domain renewal.
What support does
- Pays a documented infrastructure cost, and nothing else.
- Is acknowledged publicly on this page, with the purpose of the contribution stated.
- Keeps the journal free for both authors and readers.
What support does not do
- It does not influence editorial decisions, peer review, or the acceptance or rejection of any manuscript.
- It does not buy advertising space, promotional content, or a link.
- It does not give a supporter any preferential treatment as an author or reviewer.
- It is never requested from authors, and is never a condition of publication.
These conditions are also stated in our Ownership & Management policy and are not negotiable.
Who can support
Universities, university libraries, open education institutions, scholarly associations, research groups and individual academics. We are equally glad to hear from an institution that would cover a single year of Crossref membership and from a colleague who would cover the DOI cost of one article.
In-kind support is just as welcome: a library that can host a mirror of the archive, an institution that can provide long-term digital preservation, or a colleague who can donate time to metadata work.

If you cannot support us financially, two things help almost as much: submit your work, or review for us.
